tl;cr meme

STEP ONE: Post with your character!
STEP TWO: Respond to other people's characters with your characters. They will then tell you, in detail, what their character thinks of yours -- and as per the meme's title, tl;dr is encouraged, but not necessary! Don't be afraid to ask others for their characters' first impressions of yours as well.
STEP THREE: Write out tl;dr for whoever comments to you in return.
STEP FOUR: Chat with each other in mutual joy/horror/disgust/delight/confusion at where your CR has gone!
BONUS: Use this for writing up CR charts, or if you already have them written, link to them!

With Ren, first impressions can sorta make or break her image of someone. If they’re mean, she’ll hold onto that as a reminder of what someone can be. If they’re nice, she remembers those times when people are less than perfect, so in that sense, Shion hit the ball outta the park. Talking to strangers is easy most days, but that floating island? Horrible. She was like freaking terrified after the island shrunk her down to bitty ant size and was ready to treat everyone outside of her cr circle as a semi-threat to her life and/or her treasures.

Shion saw that and took over the situation, by being gentle and kind, easing his way into her good favor. It made a lasting impression on her and, along with his previous knowledge of Seto, she trusts him pretty wholly for someone she really just met. It’s not that hard to earn her affection anymore, but he consistently wins her over with random gifts, pieces of fruit, having a willingness to play games with her, by hanging out with her-she really likes him.

He has an analytical nature she’s not entirely used to. He likes to find patterns and learn what’s going on behind the scenes, bringing people together to pool information and ask questions. She has no such desires. Her time is spent living in the moment and having a ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’ attitude to most situations. Things are good. The islanders are relatively happy? Why bother trying to solve this mystery. She’s just not interested in any of that because she fears the answer they might find. He doesn't have that same concern. He faces problems head on, asking questions she could never fathom.

He’s smart. He’s kind. He has a strong attachment to his sister, Aster, whom she doesn’t know as well, but she can respect his desire to protect the little family he’s formed. That protective nature is one Ren semi-shares on a much lower, lower scale when it comes to Seto or the inhabitants of elf camp. That’s #relatable.

And let’s not forget the cat house. Holy shit. Anyone who lives with that many cats has an incredible heart. There’s no question about it. If she had met him at his home, with all those ambling felines, she would’ve trusted him before he even opened his mouth. He could’ve cussed her out and she would’ve been “well that’s fine because the cats know you’re kind”-it’s dumb, but that’s extremely important to her.

All in all, she thinks he’s great and wants to keep him safe, for his and his sister's sake.

Charabean, charabean-where for art thou charabean????

Despite their childlike appearance that sorta made Ren want to protect them from day 1, after the robbery ofc, it didn’t take long to see her help wasn't needed in the slightest. Ren thought they would be similar, because of their ages, but ooohhh boy. A few conversations later and her entire view of them changed-it was like a 180 degree turn against her preconceived notions of how a kid should act.

And boy, they’re tough. They have a quiet strength about them that comes out in powerful words and statements that captures her attention, makes her think, and helps her understand their differences and similarities. And while she has an urge to keep them safe, her attitude has mostly shifted to reliance. They can take care of themself-that much is obvious. If they want to fight, they fight. They’re the master of their own life and only seem to listen to themself. They don’t need her small brand of protection-they fear nothing. They don’t care if something hurts, so long as they’re the one choosing that pain. It's a lifestyle she can understand in a very basic sense, but can't fathom living. Because of that, she looks up to them with a sorta ‘older sibling’ style admiration, even if they’re clearly younger. To her, they can do anything. Nothing is beyond reach and while she supports their actions, she stands behind them with an unspoken fear that their bravery will get the best of them one day. It’s why she still tries to show them hiding spots and places to go for the times they're overwhelmed. She wants them to know it's okay to hide and leave things to other people, sometimes.

When they told her their true name and offered a glimpse into that part of themself, she realized they both wanted to be ‘someone else' and it's inspiring? In a weird way. They took the island as an opportunity to change their name, their everything, because they wanted to exist as someone new. Unlike her, they didn’t need to be told it was okay or to have someone spell out the possibility for them-they just did it. Chara became Kidwun. That's all there was to it.

And boy, speaking of incredible things. It meant the world when they offered to protect her from scientists and doctors because that's a fear she’s never shaken off. It's a touchy subject that's haunted her and she’s never been able to get a confirmation that she won’t have to go back. Chara gave her an answer and since she knows they’re around to help should the worst come to pass, it allows her to live a bit freer. Because of their words, it feels like a there's always a trickle of light at the end of the dark tunnel that her mind sometimes spirals into.

Chara has become so many things to Ren-a protector, a friend, a safety net, a treasure. She sees them and can’t help to admire how their heart shines with every action. They kill centipuppies to clean up the beaches, they give nice presents to the elves, they’re willing to hold her hand most days, they indulge her in every stupid thing she wants to do. When they play along with all her whims, she sees the little part of them that wants to be a kid too and it feels like one of the few ways she can protect them. They have a chance to sing, to play games, to pop bubbles, wave sparklers around, to have late night chats about nothing on the iStone. Ren loves to see them smile and relax and you can bet she takes every opportunity she can to hang out with them or just sit quietly by their side.

TLDR; SHE LOVES THEM. THEY'RE SO GOOD.

TLDR; ahhhHHHHHhrhHHHHRHHHR

It would take a miracle to convince Ren that Ichimatsu wasn’t a cat at this point. There’s no doubt in her little dingus mind that he’s a part of some huge cat family and I honestly feel bad for his brothers, whenever they decide to show up. They are cats-that’s all there is to it. She knew it from the second they met, when he bristled at her approach and hissed at her.

Which is, ironically, one of the more comforting things he could’ve done. In a place that was entirely unfamiliar and terrifying, surrounded by people she feared, he was a breath of fresh air. Cats are safe, even the prickly ones, and it was the first time she didn’t feel on edge. His presence, to this very day, is something she cherishes. Because whenever things get out of control, she knows there’s a cat nearby to save her-to make everything simple and easy to understand again. There are some human aspects to him she doesn't understand, but at the end of the day all she has to do is pet his head and she can feel #accomplished.

She grew up in isolation and when she first experienced freedom after everyone died, it’s the cats that helped her. They would amass in safe spots, free from spooks. They would play together. She could sing and talk to them and even if they couldn’t answer back, they seemed to innately understand her feelings. It wasn’t the same as having another person by her side, but she had never known that kind of comfort, so it didn’t matter. For that reason, Ichimatsu is incredibly important to her. She adores and loves him because he readily looks out for her and she has an outstanding trust in him, specifically. He's special and the only person on the island she isn't terrified of losing because a cat would never leave her. They would never push her away, or see her as useless, or treat her like a tool-he’s going to be there no matter what, even if she gets sick, and it’s why he’s one of the few people she believes when he comments on her pretty heart.

He gave ESP to her because he innately knew she felt lonely at times and while she treasures that cat more than anything, Ichimatsu ranks higher. She actively wants to protect him. That’s all there is to it. He’s a smart boy that rarely requires her assistance, but there are aspects of his kittyhood she feels like are lost in the human shuffle. He nearly starved after giving all his food away to the stray cats, couldn’t figure out how to hunt in the city, sometimes doesn’t clean himself up like the Tokyo cats did, and she’s there to help with all of that. She’s around to pat his hair back down and make sure he always has something to eat, even if it’s just grass.

But for all lack of kitty expertise, he’s an incredible dad to Pachinko. He risked injury and death in those terrifying woods and while she knows all cats are brave, that strength was entirely his own. She went with him to protect him from ghosts and monsters and things she wasn’t sure he knew how to hide from, but at the end of the day, he could've gotten Pachinko back on his own. How could she not look at him and see him for the perfect cat he is? He’s talented in so many ways, even if she has to help him with more of the basic cat things. He can make onigiri, play baseball, whistle with grass, doodle beautiful images with his non-paws and help her pick out constellations in the sky-there’s a reason he’s her favorite.

He puts himself down on occasion, in a very lowkey fashion, that she picks up on because please-that’s her boy. She has to make sure he’s never sad and his inability to see the beautiful heart he holds is something she wants to change without a clear idea on how to do that. But gosh she's going to try!!!!

TLDR; HER GOODEST BOY!!!!!

Their relationship isn’t complicated by any stretch of the imagination. It’s almost far too simple. In her eyes, the only way to feel successful is by knowing he’s safe and happy. That’s all there is to it. Her faith in Seto is unwavering and trickled with gratitude because she only has a life to call her own because of him. The only reason she has a chance to live at Camp Base, to meet all these wonderful people, to enjoy different aspects of island life is because he saved her.

It’s thanks to the cats, honestly, that she even gave him the time of day. He was terrifying when they first met-she probably thought he was a ghost, then he touched her face and sent her on a maniac ‘holy shit’ spiral back to the lab because that’s not supposed to happen. People were dead-that’s how it was and she couldn’t handle it. But that kitty approval turned her fear into hope and his persistence in finding her, through monster and ghost infested areas, made her see an opportunity. In her desperation, she started to rely on him to find her, to stop Shin, to help her escape, to save other people like him that might remain.

And he did it. Despite all the odds, he managed to beat the most powerful person in her life. He shattered that remaining bit of control she was under and gave her the gift of freedom. Without him, if they hadn’t met, she would’ve willingly gone along with Shin’s plan, she wouldn’t have given a second thought to having a future, she wouldn’t have ever thought of her life as her own-none of that would’ve occurred. It’s only because of him she’s starting to have a sense of self, forming her own likes and dislikes outside of the watchful eye of scientists who knew it didn’t matter. He’s the first person to see value in her for being her and she has an undying affection for him because of it.

He’s brave, he’s kind, he’s the first person she ever had any sort of extensive interaction with. She knows he’s better than her in every conceivable way and a part of her still feels guilty for dragging him that mess because she couldn’t face her own demons, but she’s trying to make it up by finding things that might make happy. Grass whistling? Sign language? Mapping? A home? People? Pretty much trying to laying the groundwork for him to live the rest of his life in peace should her little immortality time limit run out.

There are times when she tries to keep him from going places he wants to explore, because she’s been on this island far longer and knows the dangers go beyond ‘that floaty ghost that can be smashed with a stick’ to a territory he’s unfamiliar with. That he shouldn’t get involved in. And for that, she’s lowkey sorry, but not really. She’s gotta protect her boy. That's the big goal. Stop stressing her out.

Their dynamic hasn’t changed much over the last few months. She still respects him for distracting her with “magic” instead of letting her drown the entire freaking raft in a panic and while he tends to keep to himself, there are occasions where she actively seeks him out. It’s become apparent over the months that he doesn’t really “get” having fun and that bothers her deeply, as it would any five year old, because what the heck? She grew up like almost totally alone and still managed to figure out how to play tag and hide and seek with stuffed animals. And not that she needed a reason outside of "it's a gift for Laurent", but that's partly why she was more than happy to indulge Damen in some much needed flower crown lessons. Gotta force Laurent to wear something fun and to make his heart warm!!!

And while it’s not a cat, she can respect his horse friendship. Because she gets the kinda comfort and safety that comes from having a pet around, especially a Big Pet. All in all, she likes this lil prince. He’s a good nugget and thinks he could stand to chill a bit more.

THIS LIL BEAN!!

If she knew what a knight in shining armor was, that’d be her conclusion about them. They have the uncanny ability to appear when they’re needed or wanted, whether it’s to have fun or just when she needs some kind of support-there they are. Despite their inability to speak, she doesn’t feel like they have a difficult time communicating. She doesn’t know if they’re a child, but she thinks they are, by the way they act around her. They draw, they play, the find little trinkets and treasures, they have their own method of arts and crafts, they like candy-it seems right. And she likes having someone ~~~~her age~~~ to play with.

Occasionally, she wonders why they can’t talk, or why they don’t have another method of speaking like Drifter does, even if it doesn’t particularly matter. It’s just something she’s curious about, not that it changes how she feels about them. They’re kind, they look out for others, and she’ll never forget how they protected her when she needed to rest. They stayed with her until she was okay on her own and that’s something she appreciates more than anything.

The bluest bean!!!

If we’re being real, Ren would’ve probably taken ten years to make it to the temple if Drifter hadn't been around. They won her over immediately after they were willing to attack fake monsters she thought were in the area and while I’ve said this before, they were among the first beans to say she didn’t need to be alone. It was meant to be comforting, but she took it to heart. After coming from a dead world with one other known survivor, after being alone for so long, after having adults ignore her for years unless they needed her-it absolutely shook her to the core someone could just say that to her, like they understood her fear of being alone without fully knowing the situation. She didn’t know how to take it.

And boy does she cherish this precious Drifter. Her adoration for them has only grown with their constant treat giving and game playing. They always ask her if she’s okay, even though they’re the ones throwing themselves into dangerous situations. She’s just chilling at home. They obviously care about her and she responds in kind, wondering if they’re okay, how they’re doing, if they’re staying safe, if they found a place to call home, if their cloak keeps them warm-it’s a struggle.

Now that she knows they’re dead, it’s made her feel protective over them in a strange way. With the knowledge that people can get sent away from the islands, through a power they can’t control, their wandering stresses her out and she’s eternally grateful for LupNet. Now she can bother them in the dead of night, when that ‘where are they’ fear strikes her and she knows they’ll respond.

Everything about them is something to admire. Their kind heart knows no limits, they stop everything and play with her when she ambles in, they trusted her enough to say they were hurt and let her help, even if she could do basically nothing, they turn scary weapons into beautiful treasures-everything they do is for the sake of others. and she wants to return the favor by at least learning to speak with her hands, so they can talk even with their little friend doesn’t work. She’s only human and knows that her powers are limited by being able to do a whole lotta nothing, but by golly she’ll at least be able to say ‘I’m here’ in a million different ways to show she’s by their side for the long haul.

Their bravery is so. Troubling. It’s good, but it’s so bad. She hates it? She loves it. It’s terrible and impressive. It’s put on the backburner, but her stress about their one weapon habit hasn’t changed a bit and she more than likely lowkey squints at their side to make sure it’s still didn’t break. Their ideal world/dream left a lot of questions about The Guardian, whoever that is, and it’s a topic she might bring up someday-they were clearly special to the Drifter and she has to wonder if the Guardian was the kind of person who could see how pretty Drifter is too.

Her love for this bean is pure, true and will never die. She just can’t even with them. They’re so good and she’s eternally grateful for their unrelenting kindness.

This lovely lady wins +1000 points for being among the few people to put up with her random iStone calls, engaging her in incredible discussions about seashells and probably 9000 other nonsense things she'll eventually contact her about. She seems to know Taako and Lup, which is more points in her favor, not that she particularly needs it, because she's been nice from day one.

Ren gets the feeling she probably misses the people she saw in her memory and hopes they all get teleported here soon. She makes an effort to look among the new arrivals for someone that might lowkey resemble someone from that dream, but there were so many people at that house party. It's hard. She's doing her best.

SHEP IS NICE. Ren likes her a lot, esp now that she's played dumb cat games with her. Ridiculous.

small!!! friend!!!

Real talk, Ren was pretty terrified of her when they first met. Can u blame her? She's scared of her own shadow and lo and behold, here's a walking talking spider wearing a dress. It took about ten seconds for her to realize this was the world's friendliest arachnid though and she likes Muffet a lot. But really, who doesn't like her? She's so good. She cooks, she helps people, she has purple magic-the heck. Their interactions are always pleasant and now that Muffet's helped her with some vandalism, you can bet Ren's gonna coerce her into more shenans. Sorry. That's the way it goes.

hello monstah mash!!!

Edward remains as a fun lil monster mystery to her. They get along well and he's come through for her, guiding her away from the water when she had tried to look for Seto, instead of letting her get mobbed. Without him, she would've been in a ton of trouble bc that wasn't the Best time for her bravery to shine through.

She doesn't know much about him, but understands he's from a world with a scary god, that fog hurts him, that despite it all he remains kind. His memories did lowkey scare her, but she understands that it wasn't his fault. Either way, she generally likes him and wants to get to know him better! Conversations with him are always pleasant and she enjoys holding his hand?? One day she'll fly with him. One Day.
