REN. SWEET, DARLING REN.

Ok so Shepard has a lot of Weird Things About Kids. Mostly because she was haunted by dreams of a child she couldn't save back on Earth for like.... five months straight???? It was weird. There was a lot of fire involved. ANYWAY. All in all she can be kind of awkward with them because she doesn't really know how to interact with kids, since she never really got to be a kid herself? Her youth was full of running and fighting and feeling abandoned and alone. The closest she got to feeling like she had a real family was Anderson and he didn't come into her life until she was 16/17. All she knows is the shit she went through? Kids shouldn't have to. So she wants to a, protect them, and b, keep them happy. Which leads to awkward cat games on floating islands.

She really does have a soft spot for Ren though. Consistently she shows a sort of wide-eyed innocence and vulnerability that catches Shepard's heart and makes her want to burn a world down to keep her safe. Much like my response to Muffet, she would absolutely die for Ren, and absolutely kill for Ren. And would also defend Ren's honor, though in her case she'd probably try to make sure that Ren couldn't see her decking someone else to not give a bad example LOL

OK SO Muffet was one of the first few people Shepard talked to in LifeAftr and honestly one of the few stable things she has here. Even though she hasn't said it in so many words, she's so grateful that she got to talk about home with her; it was a nice and grounding conversation to have in such a strange, mixed up world. Even if Muffet's appearance is strange, she's familiar now and someone Shepard would readily call a friend. Also, fyi, she would ABSOLUTELY die for Muffet at this point, which, to be fair, she'd die for a lot of people to save them, but for Muffet it would be not just to save her, but also because Muffet is precious to her. She'd also absolutely kill someone for her. So you know. Besties.

Another thing that I do hope comes up one day in a thread somewhere is that if someone is cruel/rude to Muffet? Shepard will absolutely leap to her defense. She's got a loyalty streak a mile wide and would absolutely punch a space admiral for her.
