Oh, please. It was medication that had everything to do with me. [It was his crazy they were trying to pry out of Mom's skull, after all.] So if you really think about it, I kinda had a right to it. Don't you think?

I don't! They're personal and meant to help people.

But if they're meant to erase you from someone's head...

Wouldn't you do everything you could to prevent that?

But...

It's for person's own good.

Are you sure about that? Are you positive?

Which is better, do you think: to wipe away your grief, having never acknowledged it, or to finally let yourself feel what you've always denied?

I can't say. Depends on the situation.

But whichever makes the person good again.

If you leave your pain unresolved, it only comes back. It only hurts more.

But that's what medication does. It helps people with their pain.

Or it represses it.

Why is that a bad thing? If it helps them not to hurt again.

Because it doesn't make it go away. It's still there. Bleeding. Unhealed.

You've just been numbed to it.

Sometimes you need to do that first before you can move on. That's what doctors are for.

Doctors can lie.

Doctors can be wrong.

Sometimes the medicine can fail.

What then?

Doctors know better than you or me.

Maybe they know better than you.

Why are you so sure about that. You're just a kid, too.

Sure. But I've gotten a real close look at how "helpful" those pills were. How many times those doctors failed. How many times they lied.
